Someone posted one a few weeks ago. Here's a few more.

Scroll down a little and look at the parts.

notice where it says "Spare parts 100 percent exchangable with original STIHL 070 parts "

I've seen the same thing said about their copy of the Honda 5-10 horsepower engines.

They said the same thing about the TS400 parts, but the "magnesium parts" were zinc/aluminum, and SAND CAST instead of Die cast... the saw weight was double the stihl version...

Notice how they were sure they put a copyright at the bottom of the page, link #2. What about Stihl's copyright??????

If enough of these foreign bits get established into the market just maybe Stihl ( god bless their dollar pinching souls ) might have to lower there prices thereby bringing spares prices back to reality, exspecialy Stihls.

Mc Bob.

They must have an 070 clone in the local market, or something that uses the same parts.

Otherwise, why would you rip off a 40 year old design?

This isn't knocking the 070... it's just a statement that few would appreciate this saw.

Most buyers want a rip-off of something new.

They have, it has been mentioned/discussed several times in this forum.:angry2:

The newest Chinese rip-off saw I have seen a picture of, looks like the MS270/280........

That 40 year old design (070) is still being made in Germany for export to South America and Asia...

I attended the Stihl regional dealer meeting a couple of weeks ago, and one of the big topics FROM Stihl was the emerging clones.. they are on it... but it's like playing "wack-a-mole". Stihl is constructing a plant in China right now, and from that base they will be much more able to enforce their rights, and supply the Chinese/Asian markets.

'F' the Chinese!!
I'm sick of copycats stealing technology someone else developed and selling it as their own.

The Japanese have done this for years, now the Chinese are doing this.

I wish something can be done about this crap!!!:angry2:

Me too, beyond not buying the stuff in the first place and in my case discouraging my retail customers as potential buyers from buying.

A customer asked me what I knew about the (imported) Troy Built saws that are offered in the store I work in. I told him that he wants the Husqvarna (340) right next to it! He took my advise so I won't need to wonder if he will be comming back in to b!tch about the "junk saw you sold me"! :)

There has been a steady stream of those junk POS imported saws back to the distributor / manufacturer and I wish we didn't have them. :angry2: They make a Wildthing look like a Stihl!

Nope, if you go to the south american web sites and look at the 070, you'll see, in Spanish, "fabricación alemana" which means "Made in Germany". I checked with Stihl and they have a tiny section of their factory with just a handfull of guys making the 070.

From Peru:

stihl 070
espada y cadena: 36"
cillindrada 106 cm3 - 10hp
peso sin espada y cadena 10.7kg

When US courts impose rubbish like the Blackberry deal, how can you expect other countries to respect patent law?

The US patent office deems the patents invalid, yet Blackberry is forced to pay off the owner of the invalid patents $600+ million?

I didn't see the 070 on any of the Stihl web sites, but I was suprised to see the 08SE and the 051AVE still being sold new. I guess they are unbreakable and that's what they want for clearing land down in South America.

OK... found the 070 and 076 on www.stihl.com.mx Wow. I wonder what the prices of these classics are?
