I have a strange problem you might be able to help me with. I have a friend who designed an insulated, chew proof dog access door for our mushing kennel here in Alaska. The design incorporates Mcculloch chainsaw clutch springs from ten ten and ten twenty series. I have shown my friend a thousand different springs, but only the Mcculloch clutch spring will do for him. I found a few while rummaging around small engine shops in Oregon, but I need another 40 more to complete all the doors. It's getting a little chilly here {10 above to 20 below} and the commercial doors we use now don't help much below 20. I sure hope you all can help me find some springs. I hope I can get springs, fabricate, and install the new doors before we get a cold snap. Thanks, Jeb2.

Hmm,very interesting,to say the least.[as he sits giggling in front of his 'puter screen]

In Salcha

Fishhuntcutwood,
We're located 40 miles south of Fairbanks off the Richardson Highway past Eilson AFB in Salcha. The country up here is different from the island. More snow and a lot colder. I don't know how the folks down there can stand the heat and all the rain. I know how you feel about getting back to The Country. I just returned from a trip to Oregon/Washington/Nevada and couldn't wait to get home. Too many people, too much traffic, and not enough freedom. Every where I went everyone was worried about making a mistake and breaking one of the billion regulations meant to control criminals. They say it's all to protect the public. Geez, I'm the public and I don't need anything but my gun to protect myself. We looked into moving to the lower forty-eight to be closer to family, but the bureaucratic hurdles we would have to jump through to keep a dog team were beyond what we were willing to put up with. I hope I don't raise anyones dander with my comments, but that's the way we felt. Any way, I hope someone knows where to find the springs I need. I know my friend is a bit myopic about his design, though those are awful cool doors. Jeb2

I know of at least two spring winders locally whom I'm sure could make your spring. That said I'm sure you could find someone yourself by googling 'custom wound springs'. Your friend should have picked a more common spring or at least have a bit more flexibility in his designs. How many 10-10's did he have to disable the first time? The funny thing is that you will probably find your springs here but maybe not next time. There has to be a limit to those things, even here.
Good Luck, John......
