Hello everyone - what forum folder in arborsite is best to ask questions about chain saws?

I would like to know more information on the 346xp saw.

I found one that does not have a green cap

If I have the serial number of the saw, does that tell me which one of the 346xp saw it is?

I hear people talk about different designs of the 346xp and would like know which one is best.

Thanks

The green cap is just that, a green fuel cap, it was meant to identify if the saw was a CAT version. The older 346's were 45cc vs the newer versions that were 50cc. Typically the 45cc models have a orange chain cover and orange top cover quick release latches vs the 50cc model having a silver side cover and grey latches.

Either way they are the MOST sought after 50cc class saw. If the price is right, grab it!

So is the 50cc better than the 45cc - I did not follow the order of which one is best, second, etc

The cover that goes over the chain / clutch is grey in color

If the saw has no green cap, no catalytic muffler from new, and grey latches - does that mean it is a 50cc saw without a catalytic muffler?

I assume the 50cc were no heavier than the 45cc

Thanks

The weight s are pretty much the same. If it's original then it's a 50cc model slightly more power than the 45cc. However parts are interchangeable between the two.

That depends. Most people out there prefer the "New Edition" 50cc model with the gray clutch cover. Some purists do however prefer the "original edition" saws with the 45cc jug and orange clutch cover. Both are delightful saws and run very well.
