It's a saw that's been in our family since we lived in Boring, Oregon 30+ years ago. I've used it some -- brought it back to life about 15 years ago and used it quite a bit, then moved away from home and since then it's decided not to run. I'm inheriting it and I've got some ideas to fix the non-running issue (new fuel, new spark plug, check spark, clean filters, etc). To my memory, it did have an bar oil leak -- manual oiling worked, but not sure if automatic oiling did. Actually I did not know it had automatic oiling until a few hours ago lol.
Question is, how much trouble could I be in with the oil leak? To my memory the oil leak was from somewhere near the outlet (where it oils the chain) but I'm not sure and I don't have the saw in front of me. What is a common cause of that? This is a saw that's seen light occasional use over its lifetime -- not one that's been bashed around or run into the ground, so I'd like to resurrect it once again! I expect that it will see light occasional use again, provided I can get it running lol. I've worked quite a bit on my BMWs but small two-cycle engines are new to me. Help is appreciated!
