Hi guys,

1st one I will have done, so am looking for a little advice before I get anything wrong.

I'm putting a new piston into my TS 360. Before I go any further can you put me right on a couple things:

I'm gonna de-glaze the cylinder and am intending to use wet n dry, but which grade do you recommend? I probably have anything from 180 through to 1000 grade and was thinking of using 800?

Should I abrade in a specific direction, i.e. with the stroke, or doesn't it matter?

I'm also fitting a new cylinder gasket and wonder should I fit it dry, oil the surfaces or bed it on to silicone?

Thanks in advance I wanna get started tonight if I can get some feedback.

Cheers,

Dan

220 or 240 grit in a cross hatch pattern just enough to be visible.

Don`t forget to center the rings around the pins in the ring grooves with wider part of the clearance in the ring ends, up.

You should see a manufacturer`s mark on the crown of the piston, this goes toward the exhaust port when installing it on the rod, and be absolutely certain that the wrist pin clips are seated and cannot walk out.

Fit the base gasket dry.

Go straight down when installing the piston into the cylinder, twisting risks catching a ring end in a port.

I like to put a little motor oil on the wrist pin bearing and in the cylinder bore before assembly.
