Glen-
Once again you are babbling on about a technicality. The Stihl Intellicarb uses a fixed main jet. Period. Once again you must go back and read the original post of the thread before going off on a tangent unrelated to the discussion. Stihl does not make an Intellicarb with adjustable main jets- yet.

Sure they do. My 044 has the intelli carb and is adjustable albeit in a short range. I have located a carb for my 026 and will convert it for use on my o26 pro by adding the intellicarb piece. I would like to do the same with the 044 when I can locate a cheap carb with spring loaded adjusters. My initial post was aimed at getting pasrt #'s for carb that will work on these saws that have adjusters that are not limited or fixed. BTW my 026 runs great now, but I want adjustability to fine tune it for temp, etc. I am afraid it will run like poop again once warm weather gets here. The whole unadjustable carb to satisfy some fattarse at the epa is a joke.

My 088, 066, 036, 020t and 191t all have intellicarbs on them and all have high speed adjustment (you can defeat the limits) . My 025 and ms310 only have low speed and idle adjustments. I do not like the fixed high speed jets. I find them especially troublesome once the saw is modified.

Treeclimber,

Please carefully read all the posts in this thread before you accuse me of going tangential.

Stihl Intellicarb<font size="-2">TM</font> has nothing whatsoever to do with "fixed" jets.&nbsp; They are totally tangential features.&nbsp; None of the saws I've had with Intellicarb<font size="-2">TM</font> have had fixed jets.&nbsp; Others have very recently proclaimed the same or similar experience here.

It appears as though Stihl came out with the compensating feature in 1992, but I don't know if it was for operator convenience or for EPA concerns - both are likely candidates.&nbsp; Nevertheless, if an Intellicarb<font size="-2">TM</font>-equipped carburetor also has one or more fixed jets, it's coincidental.&nbsp; Perhaps the fixed jet is dependent upon the compensator, but the converse is certainly not true.

I'd like to use the word tangential one more time, but I don't want to be accused of babbling.

I can't help it if a discussion about a technical feature of a technical product is too technical for your taste, but I wish I somehow could.&nbsp; I also wish I could take back your post of 13:45 today for you so you wouldn't have to suffer embarrassment.&nbsp; Although I'm not always entirely successful, I do try to have a basis of some sort for the statements I make.

I`m not seeking to engage anyone in an argument, but I do have a question. Just how do you adjust the hi speed jet of the Intellicarb without changing the orifice? Yes Glens, the non-adjustable jet of the Intellicarb is tangential to the true purpose of the Intellicarb, but it has become a given that Intellicarbs are non-adjustable on the hi side. That is, without changing the orifice. The Husky 357 also uses an atmospheric compensated carb but in true Husky fashion, they did it right. It has the normal adjustment screws and most people don`t even realize that it is different. Russ

Jokers, Most inellicarbs have high and low speed crews that are limited in the amount of adjustmant the can provide. The 260 pro is the exception in that it has no hs screw, but instead uses a fixed jet. There is a solution though. I got a carb for my 260 from the junk heap at my dealer for next to nothing and I am going to convert it to a intelli carb by bolting the IC top plate to it. I am also looking for a carb for my 044 also, but he dealer doesnt have one in his scrap pile yet. When its al said and done I will have the old style spring loaded adjusters and the intelli carb feature for next to nothing(the price of a ouple rebuild kits).
