Hey, just wondering if many parts interchange between different models of Stihl chainsaws, like the starter mechanism for example? or the carburettors? what about other bits?

Cheers, Gab

Looking at your old posts, I remember you now. You put up where you
live now, I see.

Your 026 will have a lot of similar parts with the 024, many the same

the 009, 011, 012 similar, a lot same

the 021,023,025, ms210,ms230, ms250 same except piston/cyl size,

029, 039, ms290, ms310, ms390 same except piston/cyl size.

Of course there are minor cosmetic differences in the saws in this list,
but it is an accurate basic small saw breakdown in a nutshell.

Dude.....

Lots of ignitions are the same.

Some are peculiar like the 056, bosch vs SEM, but they share a common SEM ign. with a cutoff saw (need SEM matching flywheel). Some/many of the various 056 parts match. Not sure on these if you can make a super into a mag with cyl mod?

038/028 clutch covers match. Have not checked the recoil side.......

Most of the various 038 parts interchange, except cyl assys, which can be modified to match. Early 038 had metal fuel tanks, the latter plastic. Bore were 48, 50, 52 mm for the AV, super and mag

024/026 have a lot in common as do 034/036. 034/036 mufflers may differ, non-supers 034 have a 2mm smaller bore.

The 064/066/660 will match up some, but even the 066 has differences among them (e.g. flywheels/cranks/cases).

The 044/440 share a lot but early 044 had 10mm wrist pins.

Lots of parts on the early stihls swap (i.e. 070/090) but I don't know about the details to give specifics.
