Late Uncle’s Cub cadet 5220 / EFCO 152

My uncle passed in 2016, and this past week my cousin told me to come get all the 2 strokes from his barn. First one I saw was a Cub Cadet branded EFCO 152. So I brought home and thought I would put a carb kit and purge bulb in it so I ordered those.
I thought for sure after minimum 8 years untouched in the barn it would have bad gas and probably need gone through, but when I opened the tank it was dry and clean. My uncle was the type to do that when he put them away for the winter, I remember he would dump the gas and run them till they quit. I expect he had it winterized when he passed.
Now I am tempted to put gas in it and try to start it before I do anything to it. Purge bulb seems to be intact. Any predictions? Will it run after minimum 8 years in the barn drained of gas?

Sure will if it was done right when put away.

The Efco made CC in 5220 and 5018 were same saws just different bars. Had them both few times.

One I really like was the 5720 with mag case aka Efco 156

Last pic to show how the 152 is done. I liked that for their version over the clamshell saws. Can be ported etc like normal saws.

Just so long as it isn't 'Effed' up..... Bet the primer bulb is hard and cracked however. Old primer bulbs tend to fail and leak.

I am going to pick up a primer bulb locally tomorrow. Looks like it is the same as a couple Echo part numbers so hopefully the Echo dealer will have one. Thought I ordered one, but must have forgot to complete the order. I did order a carb kit though, so maybe I will change the bulb and then gas it up and see what happens. If it runs, i will probably still put a new carb kit in it before I run it a lot. Just because I like to fix things that aren’t broke. I am looking forward to getting some of my late uncle’s 2 strokes back in service. I miss that guy.

I have the same saw , picked up as a non runner . A carb kit later , had it running great ! Saw has what feels like some decent torque , pulls good for a 50 cc saw .

I sold a one of mine to a guy in my group and he had me ship it to Joe's shop. Joe Harkness ported it. The dyno guy.
