I'm trying to design a logo for my biz. I want to use it for truck magnets, invoices and advertisements. It should stand out and be different, I want people to remember me. Banging my head on wall b/c I don't want the typical tree logo but there seems no way around it. Anyone have any good ideas they don't mind sharing? Web sites?

Anyone think I should just hire a pro and stick to tree work.

Anyone know an artist familiar w/ the world of arboriculture that could draw up something for $$$???

Help!!!!!!

I use this Beaver on everything. If people can only remember one thing its the beaver Kids point at it and get there parents attention which has gotten me 5 jobs that i know of. Hey my kid pointed out that beaver on your truck and i realized i needed tree work!

Thanks for the quick response fella's.

Toddppm,
Web site looks good. I looked at a landscape design co. asking for help and he got some cool logos thrown back at him.

DDM,
You got it. . . Different.

And he has only one kid?

I had my printer show me a bunch of clipart and I chose the best looking tree they had.

I could get Bryan Kotwica to do something for you, his rates are reasonable.

This was made up for me by the father of a friend. I did a bunch of tree work in return for a lot of stationary work plus some $. I got a quote a couple years back to reproduce the logo on some business cards, and it wasn't cheap. However everyone who got those cards loved the logo.

A little sketch work, add some beer, and draw your own...
Scan it, play with the image and you should be able to put something together...

Last winter..., here's mine.

several versions were done, several were scetched and several were played with on my cheap graphics program, took the best looking of the bunch, added the text. Now it's jpeg'd and is on cards, invoice, letterheads etc.

How do I get in touch w/ him?

You don't. :) Bryan is in Mexico right now, and is coming straight here afterwards (12/28) to work on our 04 catalog art, and right after that, ISA has him booked, soooo.......

I'm certainly not his keeper, so if you do get a hold of him, and he can squeeze you in, that's good. I jsut know that he's got a pretty busy schedule for the next month. Good luck.

Matt,
I hate to break it to you, but either you Canucks spell "services" differently than we do, or you misspelled it.:D

You forgot the "r".

I like Illustrator/Photoshop the most. Publisher is easy but generic.

Opps!

oddly I fixed it at some point because the cards and invoices are fine... but that is the version I stick on quick letterhead and things!!!

Thanks

I used a clip art tree and doubled it for my cards. We use a landscape clipart on the contract, and then just lettering on the truck.

If anything is a trademark, its the "M. D. Vaden"

I'm afraid that my logos are no longer consistent. I have a good tree that I've used from the beginning on my cards. I added a stump that I drew myself 10 years ago. One truck has a stump drawn by the sign painter. The other truck has my name in large letters-no tree or stump depiction. My bid sheet and letterhead have a boring clipart tree and a cute clipart depiction of an arborist using a stethoscope on a tree. Heading is Justin Scott-Tree Surgeon. I used to have 'Arborist' on my stuff but it confused so many people that I gave up. The final straw was when a lady studied it carefully and asked quizzically"Abortionist? That's not right is it?"
I started out with the typical "Scott's Tree Service" long ago but when I moved my business many years ago I switched to using my full name with the tree surgeon title. It seems to glean a slightly diffferent class of client and a tad more respect. There is a greater expectation from the client that they called a professional rather than a tree whacker.

Does anyone know how I can convert a MSWORD/WINWORD.doc file into a a gif, jpg ,or bitmap format?

Stumper,

in word just mark (highlight) your image. Copy it. then open paint and paste. Then save as .jpg.

Here is my new logo, I had a hard time thinking of something also, so I just had to give it a go.

oh, you'll see I have a web site, but I can't get creative enough to publish it. I have the technical know how, not the creative.
