Not by far, and yes there are different rules for different people. We havent touched the tip of the iceburg here.

There is a story behind this picture that I am not at liberty to disclose, but suffice it to say that Robert and I made big bucks with this ripe pumpkin. The ten ft. butt log scaled 3785 ft. and is on it's way to Taiwan as we speak, so I guess we dont need to work for a few days, and why would we?

I see AS evolving and frankly it`s not as much fun as it was to come here and see what`s cooking but I won`t rush to say that AS is going down the tubes. There are still alot of knowledgeable people here with much to share, even if it is somewhat idle **** chat at times. I see a distinct contingent of Babcock fans and friends forming here which excludes many others, but so what. I have no bone to pick with Doug although I don`t seem to fit in his pack, that`s just the way it is sometimes. Unfortunately this pack is also the root of a few suspicions regarding the security of "private" messages, mean spirited personal attacks, and less stringent censorship of their posts. Actually I don`t think that anyone here should be subject to more censorship than "the guys" get. I`m not suggesting opening up the site and making it an anything goes free for all, just a uniform, more relaxed, standard. For Gypo, who is one of the most esteemed and priveledged members, to suggest that it is right for different standards of treatment for diffferent members is pure bull sh!t. I`m sure he would have a different tune to sing if he were on the outside looking in, so to speak. If this were to become a paysite with different levels of sponsorship it would be different, but in the meantime, acceptance of this member implemented class system by Darin, if he were to accept it, is nothing more than a disguised invitation by him to others, to come in and ruin his site. Look at the number of new members who make their first post and say "I`ve been lurking here for months.....". Why do you suppose it takes months for someone who obviously has enough interest in chainsaws to search out this forum, to make their first public statement? I doubt that it`s because they didn`t have anything to say. I`m not suggesting that anyone here stop posting or go away, just try to live by the Golden Rule, treat others as you want to be treated. Like someone said in another thread: opinions are like chainsaws, everybody has at least one. I think that the small group of members including Doug, Gypo, et al increases interest and activity on the chainsaw forum (they rarely post on any of the 15 other forums here). Last weekend when they were all in California, this place was a ghost town. If you are truly bothered by someone's posts (or avatar) then simply put them on ignore.

This all seems to boil down to my moderating duties. I honestly don't feel that I am that biased on my editing, of which I do very little.

The only time I speak up from a moderator stand point, is when a post is reported. This particular "fukkr" thread was reported to my by several (3) people. Most everyone here has been making inferences to swear words...including myself....I leave them alone until someone reports it. I will however delete blatant nudity, **** links, and racial remarks immediately.

Regarding the possible pm thing going on, I have no involvement. I have no access to that part of the system. I do however have more access than the other moderators with the exception of Darin, of course.

As far as groups of friends go, of course there are..there always will be....do you treat your friends differently than you treat people you don't know or associate with?? I try not to, but its going to happen...maybe it shouldn't in my position as moderator.
If I have to choose between moderating this forum, and hanging with my friends, who are among my closest friends not only on AS but in the real world, I will gladly hand over the moderating duties to the powers that be.

Do I think that Arboristsite is going down the tubes? Absolutely not, I think AS is a growing community, and as with every growing community, there are growing pains. There are conflicts, disagreements, and different opinions (is that redundant enough?) in every community. As far as forums go, I believe AS has to be one of the top forums in regards to diversity in its members, free knowledge shared, and good free fun.

I'll go on record right now as saying that Dennis is a real good friend of mine and that our friendship goes beyond AS. There are certainly cases where I've bent the rules with my posts and gotten away with it. There have also been times (that people seem to have conveniently forgotten about) where Dennis has stepped in and slapped my wrist. I wouldn't expect any friend to have to take any kind of flack for my shortcomings and Dennis is certainly no exception. No one here can honestly say that I live by any different rules on this site than anyone else. I bend the rules farther than the average member, but that's about it. What you believe and what's reality may be entirely different things.

Dennis serves all of us for the common good of AS. I've never seen him do anything to the contrary and we're all fortunate to have him as a moderator here. Let's just leave him out of this.

Dennis, I was not offering any commentary on your moderating skills, in fact you have been pretty fair with some of my posts, under my own name and Gypo`s. My comments are aimed at Gypo for suggesting that it`s right for there to be two sets of rules and for anybody who doesn`t like it, tough luck. Yeah, life isn`t fair, but that doesn`t mean that people should or will put up with injustice if they have any choice. Who appointed him to take on the adversarial bouncer tone? Is he now the sole sponsor here? Maybe I`m reading him wrong but the first part of his comment basically says like it or lump it. Unfortunately I know a fair bit about the underlying issues simmering here, and I have absolutely no desire or intention of sharing my knowledge so don`t even ask if you are not involved, but I wish John would remain a little more neutral and not chastise other members of this forum, lest he expose his own hypocrisy. I guess this is my point, who appointed certain members here to be in positions assumed superior to the other posters, allowing them to chastise, admonish, and deride the others for their own entertainment. its the same on other forums. after a while most o the questions have been ask.but thats what this forum lives on. different people asking the questions.we talkin about chainsaws and naturally the questions are going to be ask by those, that dont know them inside out.the only way the forum can grow or sustain its self is for these questions to be ask an answered again and again.

I actually have to pay Darin extra for Dennis to oppress and
mistreat me, but that is part of our confusing contract with me
as official "Instigator". After reviewing my W-2s from last year,
I actually owe AS money. I didn't read the clauses that fined me
for each use of profanity, and these new computer systems
today, they actually read my mind and fined me for impure thoughts. Everytime Brian e-mails me, AS makes $500.
I am thinking of resigning, because I cannot afford it
