Question for all the Stihl guys out there. Is the crankcase for an 028 the same as one for the 028 Super? If not, what is different?

Yes, The 028 and the 028 Super has the same crank case. Part # 1118 020 2124

The Difference between the 028 and the super was the diameter of the piston and cylinder. At birth the 028 had a 44mm piston, later with the addition of the "Super" was changed to a 46mm piston. The 028 was discontinued in 1987 but remains a very fine saw by any standard.

The 44 and 46mm piston and cylinder will interchange without any problems.
