Pretty darned sure. Other than the paintjob, it is identical to Lee's 1690 from a year or 2 back.

Looks exactly like mine except yours doesn't have the footplate attached at the starter. Very nice find. Of course I would be willing to buy it, but i'd just bet that this one will get the full resto and a place of honor in your collection. The rings are an odd size, but other than that they are pretty easy to fix and run real strong when they are healthy. Congrats on your 139cc bouncing not-so-baby saw.

Is this saw manufactured like the smaller Skil 16 range ie 1644/5 by Power Machinery?.

Yes, the large Skils are PMs. However, I don't know if there is any PM that is the direct counterpart of the 1690--I've heard talk of a 390 but have never seen one. The 1680 (PM275) is the largest I know of.

Guys, it'll be a long wait to get this saw in my hands.

Showed up today. Right off, this saw has monstrous compression! It'll be a fun one to finally start. Pulled the muffler to look at the piston and glad I did because was alot of loose scale and rust rolling around. Fortunately, most of the very little cranking I did was with the saw nose down so I didn't do any damage--lesson learned. Based on that near-miss incident, I need to completely tear this thing apart down to the piston and make sure it is cleaned out. Measured the piston in the 2 3/4" range (very rough, I know) so I guess is has to be a 1690. Don't know anything about the 1680 or others to fully understand the distinctions. Clutch cover and underneath is in good shape, not tore up. Red paint is already flaking off and blasting it with the blowgun.

Is there an IPL out there for this thing?

Nice score Chris- that's definitely a 1690. They were the only ones in that series with the handlebar hose underneath the bar clamps. I'd be jealous if I hadn't just bought a 7-29 at a yard sale for $100. :)

Chris, glad to see you got that monster finally! :msp_thumbsup:

Looks very interesting...

I'll say. Can't wait to get this thing running. I'm still trying to work out how to approach squaring this saw away. The tractor guy in me wants to get it running with as little messing around as possible to see what I'm starting with. (And then tear it down.) On the other hand, I will have to pull the head and cylinder and make sure all the garbage that was in the muffler is out of the ports and crankcase--I want to keep the monster compression. I'll have to make braces to replace the pieces of flat for the handlebar and the spike. The clutch drum bearing is close to locked up so that'll have to come apart.

I managed to find a good fuel cap to replace the busted one in the picture.

I never expected to find one of these and was never even looking, but that's precisely when you run across the most interesting stuff.

Come on over to the east coast Bill
and you can run mine all you want.

Lee

I would love to come that way but at 10 mpg and $4 fuel that is not a option. I could fly but my wife will not fly and she is the boss. I will say comif I am still alive and upright we will be in DC the summer of 2012.
