I was hoping to see this tree grow with a straight-up branch but it has never done so. Its crabapples weigh the branches down and there is no way my wish will be realized. I came across a photo of a weeping crabapple and now I wonder... is this what I have?
Interestingly enough, the red one behind also is a crabapple, it's doing what I had hoped. We planted them both at the same time, the green one is 1/2 the size, makes white flowers and pink crabapples radish-like in size/color, and the red one dark red flowers and purple crabapples the size of commercial blueberries. Why is that one so much larger?IMG_1228.JPG

Yes, the weight of the fruit seems to be an issue. I wonder if, in the spring, I could prune back the main center branch that's all bent and if a straight up shoot would develop from that.
