Is this black birch

Some buddys all met up today to cut down trees and chop wood and I got the benefit of being the receiver of it all. I know its a bitch and looks like maybe a black birch? It split easy and has a red outter ring. I got two truck loads that were standing dead and will be going back for at least a truck and trailer full more that's been cut and seasoned

Looks like white poplar or aspen, neither one of which grow in my area. Both are light woods when seasoned but should make good fuel.

Black birch will have a strong smell of wintergreen.

I agree with the other posters... some type of popple.
