is this oak???

It's hard to tell. I'd guess maple because of the color and streaking. Do you have a hand plane or a cabinet scraper.
What did it smell like when you milled it?

Usually red and white oak will have spots that turn black on the wood from the chain. I think it's a tannin reaction with the metal. When I put it on the forks of my tractor there will be two long black spots where the forks were. I Can't really tell what it is from the pictures.

You would have noticed a smell from oak or cotton wood.
 
think it will be ok next to that brick wall? the wall has holes in it just above the wood and its in my open garage.dont know much about drying it out. that piece of cedar has been there for maybe 2 months and i saw a little bit of blueish stuff around a knot ...mold??
