Is this red oak or hickory?

Oak, dead standing for several years. Good firewood, I cut a truckload of it this year. It dry rots from the outside in.

Oak, I've cut quite a bit like that. I cut this trunk up a couple years ago, it had been on the ground for 3-4 years because it was to big for a supposed professional to deal with. But none the less it did make for good firewood.

You did it with that saw alone?

Yeah it took some noodling to say the least but that was my biggest saw at the time

That is a hog! What was the diameter at dbh?

IDK, I never measured it, it was 60 inch plus as that was a 24" bar on that husquvarna. There was probably 6-8 foot left of log when I took this pic with my phone. I'm kinda glad that it was punky because that was to much bar for that saw, but it was a good CL buy.
