Yes, they could have came with either a hand guard setup like yours or a chainbrake. I have seen few with working chain brakes as it seems they were mostly taken off. Yours is the first one I have seen with that handguard though that I can think of off hand.
Another member who used to post here actually got that parts to switch his hand guard out for a complete brake setup and was going to give me his hand guard setup for my 900. Seems he ended up with some traumatic family issues and don't come around here anymore so I never got those parts but I'm ok with that, a few saw parts are not that important in comparison.
Just so you know, the CS-900 actually was designed to use a Oregon D096/D196 style bar mount which is usually referred to as the large Homelite mount. That said, that bar mount style is very close to several others that would only take minor modifications to it to be used on that saw.
From your picture, your saw is missing the small rectangular plate on the bottom that mounts above the oiler.
As to clear up my other post, there was a new member posting with his location in China and he posted a picture of the Chinese chainsaws he was peddling but it seems he deleted his post as soon as I replied to him.
Great info, I noticed the missing oiler cover piece. Funny you should point out the Large Homelite bar......I am currently selling one on ebay that is a roller nose and chain from a XL 925.........and yes it fits the 900 EVL. Funny how things work sometimes.
