Yeah, I bet Delaware has over 300 already. The record for the Keewenaw in 399 inches. I don't remember what year that was, but I remember the snow that year. Maybe another record year this year? Who knows the way the weather is now it could turn 40 and start raining tomorrow. It never ever used to rain in the winter. Now it rains every year more than once.

Was talking with a friend from up that way this morning. He said folks had the elevated sidewalks out early this year. Looks as though we re finally having a good old fashioned winter. Now I just gotta find time to get out on the sled. Next weekend.....

Yeah, it'd be a shame if you didn't get out on your machine a least a few days. There's some good powder to be had on the skid trails!

As our old mayor said during one of our snowstorms in the mid-80's ... "Stay inside, grab a six-pack and watch a good football game."

Apparently we have some more of this bizarre stuff heading our way tonight. After the panic the local news caused with the last run up to Armageddon, they have begun calling the white death "wintery mix". Wintery mix sounds almost pleasant, and not at all likely to kill you

Yeah get ready for some more Wintery Death tonight..Where in Hockley do you live? I'm off Hegar rd, about a mile from Houston Oaks Country Club.

Haha.. Wintery mix, that's right. Over 35 school districts are calling it quits for tomorrow, 1/3 of those are calling off Wednesday as well.

Edit: I didn't know we had another local. Is an hour - hour and a half still considered local?

I'll take snow any day over a mix like that. The mix can be ice and that really sucks.

Sliver can you point me to the roughest ground around there still open enough to ride? We usually stay on the pole lines and couple year old hardwood thinning. The steeper and hillier the better.

You could try the area directly adjacent to and north of the Mt. Bohemia ski area. There's been a bunch of recent hardwood thinning and they left the area fairly clean. There's also been about 2 solid years of copper exploration drilling in there so there's a ton of old skid trails that have been brushed out. The terrain is pretty up and down. Between the ski hill and the Smith Fisheries road on the up hill side of the paved road that takes you past the ski hill is where I'm talking about. I hunted in there this year. I am betting it would be pretty good on a powder sled.

If you get up there let me know how it was/is.
