I looked at a tree that was similar to a winged elm today but had the bark of a slippery elm. It had tiny little upside down red butter cup flowers throughout .Its spring here and everything is in bloom .The tree grows very near straight up about 40 feet high with mostly smaller lateral limbs . The furrows of the bark were vertical and in between, pink or reddish brown in color.Any ideas in an id? Dark
