For me the season is wraping up. Didn't get to do any videos this year as I was too busy. Most of the pics I took were with the new IPhone.

I think the trailer is full!

Those are some awesome pictures, Thank you for sharing. looks like a nice operation you have there.

Squad; Love the setup! Got a couple questions for ya if you don't mind. First, how long is the dump trailer and what's the capacity? Are those plywood or metal sides you have on it? Also, on that red dodge, is that a box that you fabricated yourself or had someone else do? It looks like an extremely great rig!! Does it function as a an equipment hauler when not hauling chips? O and how big is that box? Ok, maybe it's more than a couple questions, but it's all just too cool!!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

To answer your questions SoiLLclimber,

The trailer is a Griffin trailer? It is a 6 ton dump trailer, has a 4 ton capacity. The dump box is 12' long by 6 1/2' wide. I added 2' of wood to the sides (the trailer came with metal pockets for stakes). It will hold around 11 yards of chips when completely full. It's a great trailer.

The aluminum box on the red dodge is something me and a buddy fabricated this spring. Copied the idea off a site I found on the net. It's removable. (easier with a forklift). The dump box is 10' long. I built a tool box into the chipper box that is the width of the box by 3' wide and about 3 1/2' tall. The chip box is 6' tall. Legally I'm overweight when it's full, actually even 1/2 full. Decided to add the extra headroom for loading it it wood, the mini skids there or just taking refugee from the weather.

If you like I'll try to get some more pics over the next few days.

That chip box is pretty bad ass ... Nice view too, thanks for the pics

The red truck is a 1999 Dodge 3500 and the green truck is a 2000 Dodge 2500. Both are 4x4's and both have the Cummins.

Here are some pics of the aluminum chip box build:

I set this box up so it could be loaded and removed with a forklift. However, we did not have a forklift at by buddy's shop so we used a come-a-long to pull it into the dump box:

All lettered up. The towable is a rental. I've added a 36" underbody box on the driver's side (not in this pic):

I'm going to add a ladder rack for next season. Right now I use ratchet straps, attached to the vents to hold an extension ladder down.

The box weighs 900 lbs. Eight bolts hold it to the dump box. I hooked up the wiring with a trailer connection so it can easily be removed.
The whole box is 10' long by 6 1/2' wide. It is 6' high at the center and 4' high at the sides.
The tool compartment is the whole width of the box, is 30" wide and 36" high. -I can't believe how much it holds.
I most likely over-built it using 2x2's, but hey - I never did this before.

I wanted it removable for a couple of reasons;
I can still use the truck as a dump truck (haven't yet :msp_tongue:)
When I have to get another truck, I can transfer the chip box easily.

First job with the new box:

We were chipping into the dump trailer, because it holds alot more. It also poured all day and we were using the chip box as a staging area for the equipment.

The dump box has fold down metal sides that the boards attach to. I just have to pull a pin on each end and the sides fold down.

I thought about removing them, but there is about a foot of space between the chip box and the front wall of the dump bed (except in the center, due to the hoist). On one side I store a spare tire for the chipper, cant hook, pitch fork and a couple of shovels. The other side holds a 5 gallon gas can, a 1 gallon can of premix and a large jug of chain oil. The sides hold these items in. Could always put a small cargo net in, but it works for now.
