Just wondering what everybody is up to. Is business picking up? Is it looking slow so far? What is everybody's spring looking like. I am doing better than anticipated but still only a few weeks away from thumb twiddling at any given time!:dizzy:

One of the worst winters ever . Even got rained out in Jan. at my tropical winter vacation in the Dominican Rep.

Still lots of snow here but customers are starting to get out into their yards and looking at their trees.Still got lots of unfinished bookings from last fall when winter came way too earlier.

Swamped, have work till May, still fighting off the hacks & lowballers, but all in all a good start to year that i was dreading at first from all the economy talk.

LXT...................

Barely picking up in Minneapolis. We've had a couple of warm days but not any 50s yet. Winter was dead with no snow. I don't know how the big guys do it. The big guys are running radio ads like crazy which I don't mind. Get's people thinking and they educate as well about winter pruning. Some big guys are getting into landscaping and mowing to survive. Or maybe because people don't mind spending thousands on shrubs and mulch which will be junk in a couple years. But hey, that's too much money for tree work! :monkey:

A bit to much snow here to get customers thinking about there trees. Its been a long winter. Supposed to get in the high 30's next week, with the high sun maybe it will melt off some of the snow. At this point Im beyond twiddling my thumbs, they are all worn out.

Taking the good with the bad. I'm liking the warmer temps, but since the ground has thawed, I'm limited to where I can go with the truck. Hinders production somewhat.

One of the things I love about utility work is that I rarely shut down. I thought about it though, the one day my eyes were freezing shut, but hey, I'm a polar bear at heart.

I'd like things to dry out round here though. Enough rain already, somebody needs it worse than we do. Send it south!

Ya know, before you know it, it will be too hot. I love these mid 50's for getting things done.

On a side note, with tree work picking up, I'm hoping to get some weekend work either with some residential brothers or on my own.

a few calls rolling in, and i mean a few... i've been holding back on the ad blitz, so my $ has more bang when it warms a bit.

busy as heck. We had a storm about 2.5 weeks ago. I also hit my record high (in the past decade) $ week right after that storm. We did work Sunday, 7 days that week. Still finishing up that work plus our regular spring rush. I have the crews on 12hr shifts 6 days a week. Economy slowing? It isnt felt on this side of tree care. So far, looks like this year is going to be good. Cha ching!

Been a bad winter for work here, still slow now,its been wet and cold can't even get to what work I have its been so wet,got a half foot of wet snow this morning :censored: so I've been working on trucks, equipment getting ready for it to get busy, hoping its soon:cry:

We are busy, taking calls from windstorm damage and "spring cleaning" customers.

Got a little work going on finally, I've had a ton of nice calls, alot of serious s@#$, it just seems like noboy wants to spend any money. Alot of bids out ....

a lot of bids out.

keep getting the "i want to wait 'til it gets warmer" routine.

phone calls are picking up though.i'll just keep getting the equipment tuned up and ready to go.

lowballing is bad here too but i think many of them are folding.i lowered my prices but it doesn't seem to help so i'm going back to normal prices and so be it.

Things are going pretty good. Could be better.
I start 1/3 of my ad blitz April 1st, increase it in May and again in June.
This will be the 1st year I'll be in Newspapers, Radio and TV.
Should be a good year.

Started getting phone calls early last week and hasn't really stopped yet. Have had alot of "drop-n-lays". I think it's the economy.

finally got a call today.

it's on a $3200 pine job.i didn't expect to ever hear from the guy.he liked me over the other guy.i'm eaither cheaper or smell less like alcohol.guess it's finally kickin' in.
