Am I glad I found this web site! I desperately want to plant a split leaf maple ( or similar) in my front yard. The area, however, is it's in a shady area - almost 90% of the time. Do you sell any species that would thrive in that kind of environment. The color doesn't matter and it does not have to grow very large - 5' would be plenty. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. You may have misunderstood but this is not a sales site at all. I see that Raintree has answered your question well though. I have seen japanese maples planted in rather dark corners do quite well. My local hospital has one planted in a corner with a wall south of it and another wall west of it and it is thriving.

Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding regarding the purpose of your site. I was told that the acer palmatum dissectum tamukeyana is shade tolerant. It is known as a weeping Japanese Maple. Would that be the same as a waterfall Japanese Maple?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

Fall color

Your Laceleaf (palmatum dissectum tamukeyana) will have better purple foliage in sun.

Thanks to Raintree for ensuring this place is not a strictly chainsaw and firewood site!
