They are made by Efco, not a bad saw, a bit on the heavey side. If you can find a parts suplier other then JD and it's a good buy go for it, but don't expect JD to stand behind them very long, they never do.

I once had a John Deere 51sv. I bought when I worked at a deere dealer back in 88. That thing could sit around for months and alway fire up after a few pulls. I got stupid and used it on a bag & drag for a Jred 2171. The 2171 is a great saw, I just should have found another clunker to get rid of:bang:
