I picked up a cheap straight gassed or lean siezed Jonsered 2077 (not the 2077 turbo) a little while ago and have been wondering what to do with it.

I was waiting to see how the cylinder cleaned up and if i could source the rear left AV mount before committing to the build. I still haven't found the AV and haven't finished the cylinder so am jumping the gun a little with this thread.
It will be a backup for my Husqvarna 385, cutting hardwood firewood.

The cylinder looks like it might be usable but it will never be good, plus the saw was cheap, hence it might be a good saw take a few risks on.

The current loose plan...

Meteor piston, but which one???
My local stihl dealer quoted A$340 or 350 something for a genuine 460 piston, my brain switched off when he said "3 hundred". :)

Unlimited coil, currently has a green coil.

Base gasket delete if the new piston doesn't reduce the squish enough.

Muffler mod.

Some form of port work. Not sure what yet.

Maybe a timing advance.

Does anyone have a good recipe for these saws they are willing to share?

Any suggestions on where to find the information/formulas to guide me in choosing timing numbers/port volume/port shape etc?

Thanks.
Henry.
