I fired up a 2159 Jonsered 18" as a demo. It seems to me like a real nice saw in its size class, though a little pricy at $469 street price U.S.

Anyone had any real experience with these? Comments?

I suspect they are about the same as the 359 Huskys. Is that correct?

Maybe this model is to new for anyone to have had much experience with. Maybe they are all in stock vs being used, but the distributer seems to be having some trouble keeping up with demand. i waited a little on the two I ordered.

I know that Jonsered saws are slowly ceasing to exist,(being a corporate clone along with Husky) but they are still a lot better looking. AS long as the price remains competitive, I'll always give them a look.

Here is a typical marketing analysis, the Jon 2159 and
the 359 are almost identical on paper. The Jon boasts
3.6 cubic in., 4.1 hp, at 13,800 rpm.
The 359 boasts the exact same numbers, but 3.9 hp at
13,500 rpm. So do I buy the 359 and lean her out a
little?
I think Jon wanted to make sure the saw was rated at
4+ HP because they really don't have any competition for
their sisters 357.
Like eyolf stated, Jonny may be going down the road.
You have to justify yourself in the marketplace.
I love my red and black, swear by em'. but I really believe
they are a regional brand. If the same package can
be had cheaper, people will sway when there is no
choice.
Just my take.
If one is good, two is better.

Maybe it is only Jonsered's contracts with distributors that keep Jonsereds in existance as a separate brand. Does Anyone know anything about that?

Do they do much worldwide sales?

I hope Tilton and Jonsered are successful as it is getting harder for small independents to buy from Stihl or Husky. Their minimum expectations are too high for very small town dealers. There will continue to be a demand for sources of supply for the small dealer.

I am thinking about taking on Solo, Shindiawa or Dolmar so I won't have all my eggs in one basket.

Good question, I chew the fat with my dealer
on a regular basis, I think I'll ask him where he thinks
Jon stands for the future. It's just never come up in
conversation. I hope that as long as Tilton keeps asking
for them, the good folks in Sweden will keep making them.
It's kind of funny, growing up there were only three, Stihl,
Jon, and Homelite. I knew there were ohter saws out there,
just was told whether right or wrong, to stay away from them.
I honestly didn't know what the hell a Husqvarna was until
I was about 20 yrs old. I had heard about Macs and Poulans
but Husqvarna never came up. I'm sure folks in other parts of
the country could say the same about Jonsered.
Regional isolation and brand loyalty I guess.

I seriously doubt everyones statements about Jonsered slowly going away. We sell tons of Jonsereds. And have not heard any rumors that Jonsered is going away.
