I have the same chainsaw and it's a great chainsaw:p you can run 3/8 or .325 pitch chain on it, either one is good. has great power and torque for the basic needs around the house so for small to medium size work on trees and or fire wood it's awesome.

Well you asked for opinions, here's mine.

I never had a 525 but did have a 520 and they seem like there the same. Gutless POS as far as I'm concerned. Dont care for the way its put together either. Carb boot held on with a piece of wire, rubber dougnuts holding the carb in place. You have to remove the cyl to change a freaking impulse hose?

Couldnt hardly make it pass a vac or pressure test either. I dont blast many saws, but I have no love for these.

HeHeHe!!!.....I have nothing to add of any value...all the words have been used......

There's a real love/hate for these saws I was just given a low mileage 520 and am going through it just for kicks. There's potential for numerous air leaks from what I can see so new crank seals (cheap from the dealer) careful reassembly and goop the impulse line in place where it plugs into the case, will see how it goes. And yeah build quality is not even close to the 49sp.

As far as I know, those saws represented a really low point in the Jonsered(s) story.

Good luck....up here Jonsereds were king in the 70's...no Stihls...no Huskys....the 5XX series saws came out...the woodbooger pulpwooders bought them in big numbers thinking they were the new and improved 49cc Jonsereds.....these guys are funny buggers....use a cheap saw hard.... when a few dozen are burned by a brand the entire herd shunns the brand...Jonsereds was instantly replaced by Pioneers and later Partners......In 1978 I could drive to 4 Jereds dealers within a 15 min drive...by 84 here was only one...45 mins away and you would never know he was a dealer if you didn't know him personally. All that said... perhaps yours will be different and do what you expect it to...hope so...

Im in it 80 bucks, looks like this one will be going in the yard sale pile,$125

I had a 535 and even though it kind of looks like the 920 it is in no way actually related to it. The guys in the Jonsered design department that came up with the 535 were obviously not thinking clearly that day. As Mark said - POS.

You probably used your 525 within its limits, kept it well maintained, & ran sharp chains...the same way some folks cut for many years using a "lesser" Poulan/Craftsman saw :D.

MM,are you trying to say my new saw is a turd?Anyhow, when it finally gets here,it has a new home waiting .I may or may not run it a bit.

Well, technically, they both share the Partner trigger handle design. Way better than the 510sp! I have had one really good 520sp, but the others make me hit my forehead when trying to seal the vac and air leaks! What a mickey mouse design!
