I'm going to be looking at a jonsered 670 .The saw is 3yrs old and the price is $150 .Could someone tell me what numbers or identification would be on the saw that tells me it is a jonsered 670.How maney cc's is it??? Is it a good saw Jonsered is a good brand. I just need some info and maybe some general things to look for??????

670

the tag with the serial number will tell you for sur if it is still on the saw. i know the saw is older than 3 years old tho. Jonsered quit making the 670 around the early to mid 1990s. they are a very good saw. i sold alot of them over the years..had great luck with them

67cc, and a lot more than 3 years old, even 13 would be optimistic! :givebeer:

Could be anything from close to 29 to about 15.

Very good saw anyway in its "prime-time" though, that was before and around 1990!

Jonsered 670???????????

The guy who is selling probably means he owned it for 3 yrs then.

I love my 670, was singin' through some wood with her yesterday. If it looks good and runs good its sure worth 150

As I read the picture, a "Super" or "Champ" is a very good saw (1987 and on), the older ones isn't quite the same, but still good saws. :)

The World Championchip in chainsaw use was won tree times in a row with the 670, 1987, 1989 and 1991 - that is why some 670s were labelled "Champ", probably starting a bit after the 1987 competition - it is just another name on the "Super"..

The West Coast model is a Super with a full wrap bar. Still even the original 670 would be worth $150 IF its in great shape.

Sure, that info is correct, as far as I know - the WC ones were based on the Super and Champ ones, unless some were made before 1987 (never saw any evidence of that).....

The 670 west coast on acres site is a 1986 model and not a super. I know this because I used to own the saw and it was NOS. I know SawTroll says the 670 came out in 82/83, but I have never seen proof of one made before 1986 (either in person or in sales lit), but that may just be in North America. The Champ or SuperII are the best in my opinion, which both have the newer style ignition. And all 670's are 66.8cc.

The 670, (and 630), "Super II" models indicate the newer models with the single coil. Not sure of the actual year at the moment, but it coincides with the Husky 268 replacing the 266. There are some other not so obvious changes, which can cause some confusion when swapping parts. The newer saws use a taller muffler. The top covers do not interchange, regardless of muffler, as the location of the front bolt hole is different. The cases are also different, and you can't install the early two piece ignition in a newer saws, and vice versa.

'88 model super

I have an early '88 model Super with the two piece ignition setup. Don't know if that helps with the time frame of not. I have heard that the newer one-piece units will retrofit to the older saws with a few minor mods. Not sure what they may be though (clearance issues?) .

jonsered 670?????????????

I missed out on the deal. The saw is sold but still going to look around for one.

There are a lot of confusing details that appear when you start looking closer into the history of that saws "family"!

That points at 1986/87, except the 268se/xp didn't really replace the 266se/xp in most of the world - maybe only in the US....

The latest IPL I can find for the 266 is dated 1993-09, the first 268 one 1987-05.

...but then I don't believe the "Super II" happened that early, rather the original "Super" models?

It does, but lots of pieces still are missing in the puzzle!! :)

It is a pity that the availiable Jonserd IPL library does go far enough back to cover the story of those saws.......
