I missed out on the deal. The saw is sold but still going to look around for one.

they are good saws for sure. one of my favs to use. I think if you look hard enough youll find one for 100-150. I just sold a previous rental 670 for 150 on feebay and think the avg. price was 200 for them. Of course that price is goin up as fall comes!!!

Fom another one;

"600-Serie

I will get the serial number off mine and maybe Niko would be so gracious as to tell me the year of my saw. I always thought it was early 90's (used to be a fire dept ventilation saw) but I would like to know for sure

No problem, just post the s/n of the saw! :)

On a 670, the color of the tag also is needed, to make sure - they were made for a very long time!

Sure, that info is correct, as far as I know - the WC ones were based on the Super and Champ ones, unless some were made before 1987 (never saw any evidence of that).....

Actually not 100% true - some were older ones - didn't really look into it earlier....

I actually have pictures of a 1986 one, that isn't.

Jonsered 670 Super

Need to replace piston/ring as it is scored slightly. Piston in the saw has a full side window on each side. It is suggested that the Husky 266XP piston will work but it looks to have a full circumference skirt with window above that on each side. Does anyone know which piston is the right one? IPL I have says Piston Assy is P/N 501 65 94-03 Thanks. Goball

as far as I know..and as far as I, (and most others) worry about when it comes to pistons IS:

--diameter vs bore size
--piston pin height (from crown of piston)
--piston pin size
--ring land placement from crown
--placement of ring locating pin (usually only important when porting, using non-stock type pistons, IE: a husky piston in a partner/stihl/dolmar, etc, or when the ring enters the intake port
--windowed or non-windowed (Course, if you need a windowed piston, and can't find one...sometimes a non-windowed piston will work.

someone may add some that i've forgotten...as it's late :D

basically, Either piston will work...

I made an offer to you, let me know what you want to do so i'm not wasting your time, or mine ;)

670 Jonsered pistons

You can use a piston from a 266 full skirt and I was told a 268xp full windowed piston will work also. You cannot use a 268 open port piston which has no windows. Northwood saw carries your saws piston and is a sponser of this site they carry meteor and espian which are the best talked about aftermarket pistons. Rick!
