Hi guys. I'm new here. Well, I've lurked for awhile but now I have a question I can't quite find the answer to.

I have a Jonsered CS 2171. I absolutely love this saw and it has served me faithfully for about 8 years. Earlier this spring I managed to blow the spark plug out of the cylinder. It appears the easiest fix is to replace the cylinder and probably the piston while I'm at it. When I search for a cylinder there's several different options that pop up.
Here's my question-
One of the cylinders that popped up is a 52 mm kit on eBay. It's my understanding factory is a 50 mm. Can I swap this on, drill out the muffler like over read about, and get a noticeable power difference? Or should I stick with a 50 mm and just swap out parts.
I cut 10-12 cords a year with this saw as we live in MN and heat the farm exclusively with wood. Will this effect reliability of the saw if I put in the 52 mm?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate all the knowledge you guys have on here.

Youll have to pull the jug usually a stripped spark plug can be repaired with a heli coil kit. If its beyond repair i woul go back w/ oem

I can pull the jug. Never used a helicoil kit and not sure this is the time to learn. The dealer that works on them is a minimum 5 weeks out and I don't know that I can be down a saw that long. May just swap a new jug on and then fix the old one to have as a spare just in case.

If go on baileys website got to cyl kits oem husqvarna scroll down till u see the upsidedown cyl pick

Is it? I thought it looked like standard 2171 replacement. Either way, I can get that ordered along with some gaskets. Anything else I need? I was also going to grab the ring tool.

Stock is 50mm oem big bore is 51.4mm ring compressor and new gskt you should be on your way to buckin' up some firewood !!

Ordered that cylinder kit and a few other things. If all goes well it should be up and running in a couple weeks.
