what's up with the S on the end? some I see say Jonsereds, some say Jonsered. was the S dropped when Husqvarna took over? and strangely, I saw a nice 820 that said Jonsered on the sides and Jonsereds on the air filter cover.

Hmmm....yep......Basically , 1983-85 was the change over from the "True" Jonsereds to the Husqvarna version called Jonsered....both were by then owned by Electrolux......in that middle ground there were a number of saws bearing the Jonsereds and Jonsered lable. These included tthe 490 and 590.....820/830, 920/930 were all Partner designed saws..the 630 Jonsered of that era was of Husky design.....none of these were what we refer to as "True Jonsereds"
