Jonsered still have 50cc pro saws?

Making a long story short, I just moved to NC from New England. Left my saws behind for my father to use over the winter. Well, I need them and don't want to leave him saw-less.
He's owned Jonsereds since the '80s so I was looking to buy him a nice 50cc pro saw. I was extremely impressed with the 2153 and was looking into the 2253. His age and physical abilities prevent him from needing anything too much bigger. I'd like to keep him in the 50-60cc range because of weight. He absolutely hates Husqvarna (yeah, I know) and isn't a big fan of Stihl.
I've called a few dealers around me and they say that the cs2253 is no longer available.
Is Jonsered still making pro saws? I haven't got much experience with any new strato saws other than the MS261.
Is there still a 550xp or 562xp available in red? Or has Jonsered gone completely home owner?

Jonsered is pretty much dead as a brand. If you want a read 550 or 562 RedMax is the only option, or just try to explain to your father that jonsered and Husqvarna are the same saws lol.

The 2253 is a 550xp in red. They can still be found. I think someone here or on another site was just selling an almost new one.

I'm sure there's still floating around here and there, just be careful about the build date, you want the newest 550 you can find, and the Jred's often sit on the dealer shelves for long time.

As far as I know (and I believe I know the story quite accurately) Jonsered haven't made any chainsaws since 1979 (then under the Jonsereds name). Production (of Swedish made saws) first was moved to the Partner factory and then (in a couple of steps) further to the Husky factory, where all have been made since 1987. The red saws gradually became just a red version of some existing Husky model, a process that was completed by about 2003.

Recently other decisions by Husky (or really the Husky OPE group) more or less has eliminated Jonsered from the pro saw market - in favor of Redmax in the US, and basically no brand but Husky themselves elsewhere (that I know). The serious Jonsered dealers around here simply have become Husky dealers instead, but it isn't that way everywhere.

Other than Lowe's (and similar) homeowner models Husqvarna isn't so easy to get most places. Their dealer network has been dying off for a while.

The main reason that many hold the Jonsereds saws in high regard even today is that their saws of the 1970s were stellar saws - and some of the replacement models were pretty good as well, although not of the same (too expensive to make really) quality.

How much Jonsered(s), Partner and Husky design that was in the red saws made between 1979 and the mid 1990s (some models up to 2003) varied widely - and I frankly don't know when the Jonsered design team was terminated.

Copies isn't the right word even regarding the post-2003 saws though, rebranded (with a slight redesign) is closer.

The handles on a Jonsered are at a different angle then a husky saw. This can be more comfortable for some. Disclaimer I have owned neither brand, just parroting what I have heard and read.

I know all about the Husky/Jred connection, for I had rebuilt his (now mine) 2071 with Husqvarna parts because of a lack dealers. I think he just dislikes orange. I've put a 371xp and his 2071 next to each other to show him the similarities. He doesn't care to hear it. He'd pay twice as much for a part just because it's advertised as Jonsered, even though the part number is identical to Husk. GMC vs Chevy. Craziest part is that he'd run a Stihl over a Husky any day.... and this from a Jonsered Fanboy. He just does not like them. But, to each their own.
I'll probably end up getting him a 55cc home owner Jred from Tractor Supply. It should serve his needs, as he'll only put 5 or 6 tanks through it a year. It'll just suck if I have to work on it.... Dang clamshells!
Also, how's the available of Husky 365/371/372 parts? Thinking about replacing the crank bearings on my (formerly his) '98 2071. It's had about 6 tanks a week run through it for close to 15 years. Replaced just about every part on it at least once, but it's still using the original bottom end. I replaced the crank bearings on an old 395xp and it took months to get the sealed bearing. But my only husky dealer was total crap.
And!!!! Gas stations here sell non-ethanol gas for $3.10 a gallon!!

The Jared saws today used some are discontinued Husqvarna.

My oldest son got a good deal on a Jared on sale 50cc but I gave him a husky 570 to take on the big wood.

All Jred at Tractor Supply we’re sent back when they switched to Husky.

Other than decals the Redmax still look like Jred.
