Well, the Stihl and Husky are gone-I know,I should have kept them but in an unusual moment of good judgement(and a good trade in)they went in favour of a new Jonsered CS2156C.On the other hand, while at the shop,I noticed this old 500 sitting in a dusty corner full of old skanky gas and looking sort of lonely:D so it followed me home as well-can't be too sensible all the time after all.

I'm not sure if it runs or not manual,I expect not-the fuel smells to be years old.I set it on the workbench in the basement and a few minutes later the wife came down and said-good god, whats that stink!I blamed it on the cat:)
Isn't the C model just the catalytic muffler Troll?

and green cap... that green cap alone should justify for 100e discount 'cos its just so plain ugly...

It's not easy being green you know:laugh:
On another interesting note, the 2156 I pulled offf the shelf had a hose where the compression release was on my husky-auto decompressor apparently. The mechanic told me he just came back from a service school and some of these were creating problems so Jred sells a "block off kit"to get rid of it but he said you can't retrofit a manual decompressor.Anyhoo,as I was looking this one over I noticed there were no screws on the bottom of the front handle-nor had there ever been as there were no self tapper marks-just smooth holes.Having no screws in stock,he pulled a new 2156 out of the box that had,of all things,a manual decompressor. What this all means I couldn't tell you but I'm sure there are some enlightened souls around here that could:popcorn:

Nice Saw man!!!

Nope, as it is a "C".........

Yeah Troll, The "C" model makes it totally awful. It will probably explode within a month. Way to rain on his parade.

Good Choice Ford!! "C" or not, the 2156/357xp is an awesome saw. Does the Straight handlebar feel that much different than the angled ones? I briefly handled a 2159 at a local dealer and it didn't seem that different to me.

There's 2 Pro Jonsered mod that don't have a manual decompresser, and that's 2135T and 2147, all other model's have it, at least over here.

The Johnny Red handle bar angle kind of gets me. I kind of like the feel of the 2159/2156 over the 359. But I like the feel of the 353 over the 2152. I have no idea why. Maybe because of the weight on the bigger saws. I asked before if I could put the 353 handle bar on a 2152 but nobody answered....................so would I be able to or no?

I have a Stihl/Jonsered dealer 10 minute from me. They seem to like the Johnny Red's over the Stihl's. They have great stock and service. The only Husky dealer worth a :censored: in my area is 35 plus minutes from me. ;)

The only visual differences between the two were the manual decompressor on the one I bought, and a fitting on the cylinder with a hose running down into the clutch cover on the other. As for the straight handle,I was sort of dragging my feet as I had decided on the Husky as it was so much nicer and comfortable to use than my Stihl and I wondered how much the angled handle contributed to this.I could have bought the Husky but prefer to deal with my local Stihl/Jred dealer so I took a chance.I put a tank of gas through it this afternoon and noticed nothing with the straight handle.Very comfortable and very low vibration.Lack of power doesn't seem to be an issue:) It came with a 15" bar and this will go eventually as with this set up it is slightly unbalanced to the rear although it's not noticeable when you're using it.No big deal as I was planning on an 18" anyway.I did however notice two squirells and a rabbit looking giving me strange looks-no doubt because of the green gas cap:rolleyes:

I think you can put the 353 handle bar on a 2152 (on all Jred/Husky sisters), but do some cutting whit 2152, and you will never ever think of putting on a 353 handle bar :chainsaw:

For most of the folks on this board who have actually RUN a Jred and a Husky, and who have expressed a preference, the Jred wins. SawTroll is a noted exception. Lots of folks don't notice a difference, some notice the difference but don't care, but for the most part people who run Jreds run 'em cause they're just more comfortable to run.

That's based on my entirely non-scientific sampling of opinions which I was able to find on this board, which is incredibly non-scientific, especially if the posters were guilty of PWI...

Yes you can. My 2149 (older version of the 2152) has a 353 handle bar on it. The 353, 351 and 346 all use the same handle bar, FWIW.
