After using it for a few more hours today:rock: I finally noticed a difference in the straight handle. The Husky used to bump my leg from time to time as I carried it along and the Jred doesn't:D So much the better but thats about it.On another note,it really does run hot with the cat doesn't it?As much as I hate to butcher a new machine it was easily altered and runs much cooler although I can't say I noticed a power increase.I plan to keep the green gas cap though. Is it any good now Troll or do I have to lose the cap as well and paint the rest a gaudy orange?:D

Wrong. Both have 6.3 hp, both weigh 15.4 lbs.

Well maybe I will get a 2186 also, cos there is some BIG Stika Spruce around in this area, and they are almost like weed growing fast and everywhere.
Some have even talked about setting them on fire, that is not allowed, but people here around almost hate them. Some places here they just cut them down and piled them up, and that's it.

Wow...hard to think of a Sitka Spruce as a weed!! That wood makes the single finest music wood in the world. Steinway uses nothing but quartersawn sitka in their soundboards, if that gives you any indication.

Either way it is an over grown heavy pig in stock form....It weighs as much as a 066/660 and has less power. That is why I sold mine.....Heck, even my 7900 would outcut it too....

Save your money for the 2190, if they ever make it in red, then send it to a builder to have worked over.

Well, The quickest, and maybe the only way to get a 2147 here in the US is to stick a 346XP piston and cylinder on either the 2152 or 2150.

I am amused at some of the "differences" some guys are coming up with comparing like models of Husky and Jonsered. As we have discussed in other threads, there are many unexplained discrepancies in both the Husky and Jonny literature. Such as different specs for like models, as well as specs that remain unchanged when the saw changes. (Cylinder change on 350/2150 and addition of cat muffler to several models) So, you can place only so much faith in the printed specs.

Since they all use the same parts, with the same part numbers, there can really be no differences in power output. I would also think that there can be very little if any weight differences.

Is that all it is, Spike? How 'bout things like ignition modules, etc? And can you give me an idea what just the parts might cost for the conversion? Ballpark is fine...I'm still in the "cojitatin" stage. I'm thinking of an EHP 2152 as well.

TIA.

Same ignition, same carb, same cylinder gasket, same mufflers.

A complete 346XP Cylinder and piston kit lists for $170.68; part # 503869871

All the sudden this doesn't sound like a bad idea...I can defray part of the cost of the new cylinder by doing the conversion before the saw even gets run and selling the original P&C as "like new"...

Thanks Spike!!

Here its around 150e difference between 353 and 346xp so it would be cheaper to buy a new 346xp....

The problem whit the Stika Spruce here, is that it's growing to fast, so even the sawmills don't want them if they are not old enough (so I don't think Steinway will use them). Here is a reasonable mild climate year round, so they grow like :censored: . Most of the Stika Spruce was planted after the WW2, so they are mostly between 30-50 years old. The biggest problem whit them, is that they has/are spreading them self all over, so you can find them around where they not was suppose to be.

We can't buy the 2147 here, though...that's the problem. So if I want one, it looks like I'm gonna have to build one...

Here is some Photo from a Sunday trip one of my brother's, his friend, and myself had on an WW2 German Nazi Fortress this summer, a bit from were I live. At this place there was not a tree under and after the WW2, then they started whit Stica Spruce and some other tree's, but now some area here is growing over whit Stika Spruce. And some of them are really BIG, but I don't have any photo of them.

The Stica Spruce on the left is really BIG

I know one difference for sure on the Canadian versions anyway.Locally, the reg price on the Jonsered 2156 was $699 including a case, hat, sharpening kit(round, flat files and roller type guide)and spare chain(Jred/Stihl dealer)while at the local Husky dealer a 357xp goes for $799 saw only.

More Jreds

Here is alittle more red for you Jred boys.
Also has anyone tried to put a jred 2159 top handle on the Husky 357?
I cant stand the freaking angle, just to much of a angle imo.

Guy only charges $3.50 to sharpen a chain for you wi guys, if you havent figured out yet or have a rocked out chain, also takes mailed in stuff.

Thanks for the source. I wish I could help on the 2159/357 handlebar, but don't know myself. If you do find out, let us know though...

I think you can do it, and for all Husky/Jred sister's. If you see at right side of the saw, where the bar-cover is, you will see where Jred have the angle on the handle.

I put a non cat muffler on my 2159 and it does run cooler! I really should have taken a temp gauge with me but you can really feel the difference in heat!Maybe I should swap gas caps? For me I really don't like the angled handle on huskies and find the same problem you described about hitting your leg!As far as power goes I did have to richen a bit as the muffler swap made the chain turn mind you I am cutting wood at a little over 5000'' above see level and I find anything over 4000'' starts to act strange as far as small 2 strokes go!
