It is technically correct for this saw as well. Tilton (and perhaps others) supplied the early 630's this way as it was the only Jonsereds at the time to use the D009 bar. This way the dealers did not have to stock another bar. I have only seen the adapter on saws built in 1982 and 1983.

I had 8-10 Poulan D196 bars with similar S clips for running on 5/16 studs.

This one is a 1983 according to the tag. Please tell me about Tilton...

Tilton was the distributor for Jonsereds in the eastern US from 1969 until just a couple of years ago.
