Hello all. Been awhile since I posted. I am looking for some advice. I have an old jonsereds 90 that I was thinking of using in a G777 Small log chainsaw mill. The saw is in great shape and runs fantastic. I just worry that it might put to much of a strain on it and shorten its life. I have a 359 I can also use but I think it might be a bit small. I will be using it on pine, cherry, red oak and maybe some poplar. Thoughts? Suggestions?

You haven't said what side bar or log.
J90 is an 87 cc saw. With care should be good for about a 36" bar with around 28" cut

I have a 20" and a 24" bar for it. Most of the logs will be between 12" an 20" for now. If I decide I like it I have some oak and pine that is between 24" and 30". I was going to wait on tackling that until I get a few hours with the smaller stuff under my belt.

If I remember correctly, the small mill is only good for up to a 20" bar. I did run a 24" in mine without issue, however. Just check, since the small mill has a single post, that the bar is square to the frame. I had to use a sliver of aluminum tape inside the clamp on mine to get it close to perfect. And, of course, be careful of the extra bar out the far end. There's no real nose guard, but you can move the plexiglass shield to cover it.
So I finally had some time to try it out. Worked awesome.....then I hit a screw I set to low on my guide........i won't do that again. All I was able to do was make the first pass. Tomorrow I will try to cut the first slab.
