Hi all.
Would it be ok to run a 26 inch sprocket nose bar with a semi chisel chain on my Jred 2165 ? It says on the Jred site it only runs up to 24 inch. I hope its ok, because I have already got the bar and chain cheap off ebay. I should have asked before I spent the money, but they say a fool and his money is easy parted.
Also I have a MS 250 with a 16 inch 3/8 picco, Would it be a better saw with a .325 eighteen inch bar. Do you think it would have enough power for this change.
Thankyou for any help you can give

You'll be fine on the J'red. The max bar lengths oftentimes have more to do with kickback certification than any bona fide mechanical limitations.

As for the 250, you should be OK with .325" pitch, and it can run 18" and be reasonably happy.

I'll second what computeruser reccommended.

The 2165 can pull up to a 28" bar, as it is the same saw with minor differences from a 365 Husqvarna. You may have to be a little light in the touch with it, but it should cut fine.

The 250 is often spec'ed with .325" chain, and from comments on here, it is said that it makes a great deal of difference in how the saw cuts. You should have no issues there, and will probably like the change.

Ditto what everyone else says on the 2165. Shouldn't be an issue at all.

You might try full- or semi-skip, though, depending on the type of wood you cut.

I run .325 RM on a 16" bar on my 250, it's a good combination, I wouldn't like to go 18" on this saw, my 290 runs the 18" bar.
That said I cut mainly really HARD wood with these saws. Casuarina.
