So heres the jug. Everything is good except this one spot. Do you think it needs to be honed for that or will the acid and scotchbrite pad work? What do you think?

I can try for another pic if you want it. It feels like that dark streak is raised above the surface of the cylinder. Is it aluminum transfer, carbon, dirt(no I haven't cleaned it yet),...? Thanks. Evan

i would do a lite honing, i lighting clamp the cyinder in a vice(just enought to hold it) spray the cylinder with WD40 and insert hone, start honinig and oil liberally, it won't take much to clean that up....just what i would do

Dose top of piston show any marks of hitting, on the top?

I guess thats just where carbon has flaked off.

I'm not sure what piston was in this particular jug since I got 3 jugs in a bunch of parts I bought. I think it's just where the carbon flaked off, and yes the picture is horrible. I can try to get another one today in the sunlight if you need it. Evan

From what I know, Flex-hone and ball hone is the same thing. I've read here that a 320 grit Silicone Carbide flex/ball hone is recommended.
