just bought a used sthil 029 super cant get it started

I was just given a stihl 064 and I am having the same trouble, I pull and pull on the starter cord, and not even a pop. I checked the belt, pulled the muffler off and put in a new spark plug. A Bosch BTW. And still nothing....

I need this saw because I am going to tackle my first 48 inch oak on the weekend. The tree needs to come down as it is infested with ants and limbs are starting to fall off.

Did you pay 1500 for this saw? I think you have a hole in yer piston. also never trust a spark plug to stay tight, always tack weld them.

The previous owner only used some oil called red armour in it.

Well there ya go, that's the problem. It done got all red and sticky inside.
