Just bought me an almost new (65hrs) 2007 Carlton 7015trx. So far i really like the way this baby runs. A little learning curve on the remote but I seem to be catching on. Hope business picks up next year to pay for it..Merry Christmas!

hauling your Trx

Awesome machine! Congrats on the new Christmas toy!
Scott, good to here from you. Just wondering if you are pulling your machine with a 7k tandem axle trailer? That what i have been using for my old 7015 wheeled machine but the trx weighs about 4400lbs.vs 3500lbs for my old machine.

Yeah, I sent you a IM. I pull mine with a 5k trailer actually. It's no longer really a 5k trailer as it has heavy duty leaf springs and better tires. It does have 3,500 # axles. I have had it on the scale with stump grinder, tools, and fuel at 6,950 lbs. It is a 5x12 tandem.

Sounds like your about maxed out with (2) 3500lb. axles. I have noticed my tires are wearing out on the inside prematurely hauling my old 3500lb. machine. going to check for a bent spindle or miss alighnment. Thinking about going with (2) 5200lb. axles with bigger tires.

Hey Howel , congrats on the new machine. Can you believe that bad boy? Absolute awesome machines! I assume you got the sandvik wheel and I'd like to know your thoughts on it. I was blown away with the machine and sandvik combo that I had. Tracks are tough on lawns but its do-able and you can get to almost any stump. Congrats again!

Congrats on the new machine. I love my 7015TRX. I am hauling it in an inclosed trailer that has two, 3500# axles for a GVW of 7000#. Weight of trailer, grinder, tools, and supplies, is just under 6800# total.

The machine was a repo originally sold by r.z. zimmerman equipment out of marietta ga. It has the standard wheel with the big 1 1/8"greenteeth. First time i've ever used greenteeth but i will say they cut very well. Only negative is they throw the chips a long way. After getting the machine i changed the oil and filter (still had the original painted carlton filter on it), Changed the inner and outer air filter, greased all the bearings. I did everything but check the tension on the tracks. First big job a track comes off. Called carlton and they walked me through getting it back on and adjusting the tension and i was back in business. I still have my 4400-4 wheeled machine with 2000 hours on it. Going to keep it as a backup.
By the way I figured out a way to check for that 1/2inch clearance on the tensioner. You guys that use the trx know you can't see what your doing its all feel. What i did was take a ball of play dough and push it between the plate and washer, remove it and measure for the required 1/2". Try it guys it works. Happy New Year!

First time one of the tracks came off it took me AND my brother almost 2 hours to get it back on. Now I can do it by myself in about 15 minutes.

That track adjustment takes MAJOR pressure to get it to where it needs to be. I blew the hose off one of my grease guns trying. The cordless gun has no problem tho.

Next time you tension try the "play dough" to gauge, It works. How often do have to re-tension the tracks? What is the oil capacity with filter? I think i put about 7 1/2 qts. to fill but not sure.

I don't remember the oil capacity but that is the slowest draining engine oil pan I have EVER seen.

The tracks don't need to be re-tensioned very much at all. I can just feel in there with my finger and get a close enough idea how tight it is.

The only time I have ever knocked a track off I was up on the chip pile and turning but the back of the track caught a small piece of stump that was not ground up yet.
