This is a skip tooth for an ms311 running a 20 inch bar

The chain was brand new, made about 10 cuts, and found a nail hidden in a log. It destroyed one side of the teeth, but this side looked fine other than this cracked one.

I’ve seem a lot of that. I have a pile of tree service chains, 3/8 lo-pro that are bent and cracked like that…most just bent. I had never seen or even heard of it before.
most are Oregon chains but some Stihl.
I have no idea what the hell the guys are doing to cause it.

Well, there's a first time for me! I've also seen teeth knocked clean off, or carbide tooth which has been knocked off its brazing, but never a cracked tooth like that!!!

Thanks for sharing!!!

Here is an example of bent teeth. I have a pile of these. It may well be an Ore chain issue, not sure. All 3/8 lo-pro. What I need to do is go out to one of their job sites and ask WTF they are doing to cause this, lol

You’re talking about the point being pushed back? Hell I’ve seen them to where there’s no top plate angle left. One rock in the ground will blunt 3/8 low pro like that
