If you have no concept about how to climb or the fundimentals of how a hindge acts when cutting wood $370 is a lot cheaper than paying medical expenses or insurance deductibles when you drop a tree or a chunk on some ones house or your self. Ya gotta start out with the very basics. I climb for a guy that knows only what I have taught him, but in my mind, if left to himself he would only hurt himself or damage property, thats why I let him sell and I climb.:D

OutOnaLimb,

I agree with you 100%. I know I am a rookie, that's why I sought the counsel of those on AS. I will gladly pay $370 for instruction. I would rather trade services for instruction though. I can help with labor, mill logs into lumber(I have a portable sawmill), build web pages, etc. Eventually I would like to get into the tree business whether part time or full time. I enjoy being outside, have always liked climbing, and have an interest in saving trees. It seems like a natural fit for me. I appreciate the interest you all have taken in helping a new guy get started safely. Later, Roger (the new guy).
