found in a small saw shop a new 2007, 7900 dolmar , with a 26" bar and chain , got it for $800 , i am so happy to find one of the older models brand new, the new one was just over $900 to order a new one, and it may be a while to get one , so was i lucky ?

Ya, that is a good price. People used to buy them in the $700's, but those days are long gone. Dolmar is having trouble with them passing emissions, so who knows when we will see a new batch. My dealer said they are working on a new updated version, but who knows when that will be done either.

I have 2 of them and they are strong runners. Faster than my 046, and 372's. Time will tell on how they last, but the largest problems have been with broken AV springs and few cracked tanks from really cold weather. Good luck with it!

I didn't get a bar with either saw. I heard the Oregon powermatch bars run out of adjustment before the chain is tight sometimes. Haven't ran into that myself yet. My other saw has a windsor bar.

By the way, those problems are what my dealer has seen. No problem on my end. Enjoy!

Mr. Smarty pants thinks a saw that suffers failed av parts and cracked tanks is superior to Stihl? Thought you learned something every day? :alien2:

Have you ran one? Did I say it is superior to Stihl? Love your comments; keep them coming. Haven't had one issue with mine in terms of durability.

The 7900 is one hell of a saw. All of the 70cc saws are all really good though, just pick the one you like the most.

Thought you said one of your rag tag collection of saws (Dolmar, Husky, Lesco, jonsered, Stihl) was better than a 46? I KNOW you said Dolmars you tout historically had at least 2 key structure failures. Not making this stuff up here pickles.

I'll keep em coming....what do you do for a living and how long you been doing it? Do you just cut firewood for your woodstove and work as an accountant or something?

Congrats man! IMHO, you got the strongest 70cc saw there is. And they are oh so smooth as well. Enjoy!!

I have had 3 or 4 046/460 over the years and have one that I', building up right now from the ground up. They are sweet saws, but the 7900 is faster.

As for a living, I'm a full time college student at the moment (business management major), work at local tree company (groundie, but recently started learning to climb), buy and repair saws, run a small start up tree and landscape company with my buddy (greatoutdoorsohio.com) and lastly, do firewood. So, I'm always learning and growing!

Like I said in the other thread....that figures. Good luck.
