Just wondering if you guys north in the kc area got any storm damage last night looked like it got kinda hairy!

Nothing on the news, and not a single storm-damage phone call today. Heard some stories, but I got no evidence that there was a storm.

We did get a lot of hail, though. I'm sure the storm-chasing roofers have all started this way.

Yeah im about 60 to70 miles south of you and we got good storms but not good enough oh well maybe next time!

we were the other hot spot that night, tornado warnings and all the hupla! We had a small amount of rain and no wind, but yet, they where sounding the sirens and telling everybody to get away from windows and get in the basement! How can they get it so wrong!

violent storm are "concentrated" weather, so the really bad stuff happens in small spots, rather than everywhere. Furthermore, the weather forecasters get paid to warn you about any risk, rather than getting paid to never make you worry, so they tend to predict on the heavy side of events.

....plus it's more dramatic for the viewers.

Most violent storms are usually concentrated, but I've seen widespread carnage on more than one occasion.

We had some strong winds Sunday and forecasted strong storms for Sunday night, but it didn't do much around here.
