It was one of Bailey's China Cheepies. "Tiger" it said on the side. I think I gave $10 for it. I pinched the roller tip behind the bearing to the point that I couldn't turn it with a screwdriver. Good thing it was a cheap bar. Now I have to buy new one. I think the new one will have a replaceable nose..LOL..

I have Windsor Speed Tips for my other bars, but they might be a tad heavy for the 346. I'll have to look around and see if I can find some weight specs for the major brands. Troll... got your spec sheets handy? ;) 16" .325, .050 standard kerf bar for a 346xp.

Alrighty then, hey H.H., remember when you mocked me for saying you can put in the backcut first on small trees? Now I mock you, best get lifting wieghts or something, I was running my 394 with a 30" Cannon bar today, Cannon bars are heavy, a 394 is heavy, so what. Now you are crying about a Windsor on a paperwieght like a 346, ha ha funny.

I did? I don't remember. Can you dig up the quote? I'm such a newb that I can't see me mocking anyone on technique except for the really blatent errors.

I didn't do this felling tho, I was bucking and it was small, like 10-12". My concern with weight isn't because I'm worried about the saw being heavy, it's a 346 for cripes sake, but rather about balance. I don't want the saw overly nose heavy. I expect a solid Speed Tip will have a lot more heft than that laminated Tiger.

That setup is not avaliable here, but I believe that Oregon make such bars, and probably others as well, for sale in the US.
I am pretty sure Husky offer them also (rebadged Oregons).

Hey Ian, if you still want to be thrifty( read cheap like me) check baileys and see if they have anymore of those closeout Carltons( actually re-badged GB titanium's) They are a nice bar, they only quirk is they are slightly off standard sizes. So an 18", drive link wise, is really a 17" which suits me fine, good size for that class of saws.

Thanks Dave, I was looking at the price of replacement tips and there's no economy there. Tips were more than just buying a whole new bar. The Carlton Timber Champ bars were 9.95 and the replacement tips for the other bars were 14.95. Looks like I'm buying another of Bailey's China Cheepies.

According to their selector guide, the Oregon options are;

-Pro-lite (laminated), 160SLGK095, that one should have a 12-teeth tip.

-Power-Match (RSN), 160RNBK095,, that one may have a smaller tip (probably has in the 16" version).

Any bar with the "small Husky" bar mount will fit the 346xp.

Actually you did, no big deal but. It was a thread about wedges or bore cutting. I said you can put in your backcut first on small wood, then put in a wedge and carefully put in your undercut. You quoted this and said "I have heard about this" with some characters, the monkey one, I believe. No biggie, try this method out sometime, I did it yesterday with a skinny pine.

I think this is the thread you guys are talking about....

If that's the one, then I wasn't mocking you, I was mocking me. I have read about many more techniques than I actually am proficient at or have even tried.

LOL...

I think the 160RNBK095 has the bigger nose, at least mine did but it was 15" ,,
