I think I've got a fairly clear picture of the knut on the computer at work. I'll post it tomorrow.

As far as i know there is a Prusik as developed by Dr. Prusik(vetrenarian i believe); such a Prusik properly would be a loop double choked/2 opposing round turns as example of double round turn for friction hitch basis observation. And a French Prusik list of coils(ususally 7, we use a short one of 4?). i've called it a double round turn, and have been corrected that it is a Frenchy, so; i just try to keep up and also offer in component forms that build and alter from one point. i think learning the Distel, then the Schwab by reversing the bottom turn is a lot easier to absorb, than making it out a totally seperate knot/hitch to learn; though i never have seen this list of friction hitches expressed as easy alterations of a common base. Some of the reason for site is to find/show standardized names, i've gotten several already Distel/Distal, barrel/fisherman's, Kleim/Klem Heden/Hedden etc. KnudeKnoggin is quite a source, and on round 2 at hitch pages will be listening hard to him and ask about prusik dual names.

i chose the extreme closeups of bright yellow Tenex on bright TreeProRed over light blue towel hopefully to show things off more dramatically than i've seen after many trials trying many combinations of colors that are within the color pallete of items/tools actually accredited for such use. Also i think the pictured Tenex makes a good tail, and at 5500# test can go from Taut line to VT.

Researching from the Knut description to referance of Distel as base to start Knut from; will give a newer picture of how i think it is easy to remember Knut as i constantly upgrade site. Icicle is self tending too, extra cool in the Tenex i think. Either strategy, can lend similar effects using the making of the final turn on the base of a VT.

Site is constant work in progress, haven't been building it a month yet so i guess still pales to other options and efforts as noted by those that speak up against. i will try to do better, and keep up with the grande efforts & outputs given to everyone by the local naysayers and negatizers seeking to take up the airspace with their dis-ease; as i seek to maintain an internal locus of control without the tax of that distraction constantly imposed onto everyone. i always rest well, that i have done my best, in the most posititve way; keeps me fresh for the next day!

Is the knut a better working hitch , i have been using a 3/1 distel on ultratech seems work really good. just wanted to hear a different opinon.

Close more self tending/easier tending cousin. i think a marvel to play with and realize the change and the great effect, perhaps to carry the lesson forward to maybe an alteration of the VT to more self tending at some point in your journey.

In some utility actions of 1 way redirect, Knut is very helpful; Icicicle is with similar examinations i think.

I finally got to climb again today. I printed the page on Spydies site on the Knut. Folded the paper up and slipped it into the knee pocket on my Arborwear Tech Pants. After getting into the tree where I needed to clear deadwood. I got out the paper and followed the directions to tie the Knut. The directions make perfect sense to me.

The cord I've been using is finally on the market. Someone was selling the Nomex covered white fuzzy stuff at ISA. Not sure who but the stuff really works nice. I was on my 7/16" KMIII and used the Knut, SRT of course. I think this might be the right combo for working up and down on SRT.

i wuz thinking something like that (Knut/SRT)on top/tandem with some kind of Bachman* or that Storrick Carabiner Friction Display sites strategies for placing some of the friction load on a carabiner strategy. i think bridging from the Distel to Knut is as easy as i can make it; especially if ya make the bottom, single hitch first and leave lazily loose, then work the top as to do Distel, and just throw the tail down thru that first hitch instead of completing Distel's last tuck under the "Z" bar.

i'll be redoing most the web pages and taking more suggestions on names and colors for maximum understanding. Really lost on what arbo lines to set for best contrast etc., then against what background for computer viewing; on a budget production. We tried quite a few more than woulda if payin for film for sure!

i'm all for consistent names, Frenchy/French Prusik i've picked up around some here, some TB, knot books, mountaineer, rescue books etc., some call a VT Frenchy too etc. The Double Round Turn i must apologize as my own description, so as to break apart for a standard double choke/4 coil Prusik as per original inventor, or the French Prusik(list of turns) or Tautline as all the same construction, different arraingements of the Double Round Turn. Uninterupted 3-4 coils for the 'newer' friction hitches(French prusik formation of Double Round Turn); broke apart in same direction/non opposing turns for Tautline (Round Turn over Round Turn in Clove formation); or broke apart in countering directions giving a flat, not "Z" bar like the 4 coil Prusik -a Round Turn, Round Turn opposing version of a choke with a sling; kinda a double death choking grip in my mental comics. Anyway Double round Turn is my base formation for all the fricton hitches, that i think covers more than prusik etc.; and therein possibly defines the operative element.

i think naming things correctly to function, so as to call out with the power of intention to command them by this 'handle' is very important in discussion to make sure all are on same page, but also the doing with focused intent to this thing/principal you call out. This calling properly with intent, even goes back to Biblical times; as Adam was granted mastery by all by naming everything; except "I Am, Who Am" that could not be named, he was not master of. The olde ones beleived an evil spirit could be called out and commanded if correctly named, as does modern psychology; some bartenders and hairdressers too i might imagine....

Especially when hinging; i'm naming the parts, and cutting with this focus of intent; of the principals (yeah i know wrong spelling, but i'm trying to use the French familiar tense..) i try to know. So, the names have to make some kind of sense i think, have the color of their power in some way(okay gravity bender instead of speedline is a lil far...); or association to base principal for wider understanding; to give more meaning to the calling out to use..

So the naming thing is important to me; even as i bounce different ones off people etc.; i always knew i would never be finished with site; and just finally did it for a certain date, rather than put it off anymore, or wait till perfect, cuz it never would be perfect enough to open! So am taking all suggestions; many have been helpful already; knude1 a freaking goldmine of info with his own 'update site' folder of ideas here. Even the sense of the real entymolgy etc. sometimes gives me this feeling of more concrete familiarity to call upon something purposefully.

Thanx-

Ken,

I've fetched a copy of your entire site as of 30 hours or so ago and had intended on going through it with you. May still do so...

A couple of things immediately come to my attention, though. First, you must, if you must use file names with spaces in them, escape the spaces when forming URIs. See here and in that page, search for "Unsafe:" (in section 2.2. "URL Character Encoding Issues"). What it boils down to is blank space is invalid in a URI and must be replace by "%20" each place it occurs. For some strange reason, MS decided early on to have their browser automatically do that do accommodate their page-generating software which did not, so you've probably never noticed the errors which do exist in real life outside of the MS dreamland.

The other thing, and this is really just about as big a thing, is that you should resize your images to be served at the size you want them to be displayed instead of relying on the browser to fetch 5 times as much data and do it for you. If you were on a modem connection you'd wonder why a page with 6 small images takes 10 minutes to load...

Email me if you wish. I hate the PM system here.

You can't check the PMs "anonymously", and if you enter the site not "anonymously", then you must also check all the current "new" posts as they won't be "new" later. In short, aside from the fact that keeping personal correspondence on some third-party computer is a bad idea, you're trapped to doing all or nothing when visiting here.

There, I've disabled PMs in my options. If you want to contact me, email.
