Hi

Looking for a nice simple lanyard that won't cost me too much since i'm quite new to the game. Currently i use a piece of 3 strand nylon with ~10.5mm 2m long with a prussic loop to give it some degree of adjustability. Its conneted to two mongoose karabiners.

I was thinking of getting a length of xtc fire with a spliced eye which would go in a karabiner and then threading the other end through a captive eye karabiner and tying a blakes hitch on the tale so the lanyard could be adjusted. What do you think good idea or pants? any other surgestions?

Thanks

Andy

For a do it yourself option:
12' length of braided climbing line: double fishermans on one end to hold a karabiner, then at the other end a distel hitch (around the braided) onto another krab, with a stopper knot in the end of the braided to stop it coming through the distel. Clip in a micro pulley behind the distel and voila, a home made, adjustable lanyard!!
Advantage of a distel as the friction hitch, its a closed hitch, ie the ends are tied off onto the krab so it can't work loose like a blakes might, and it does not load up and jam like a prussik can, with the micro pulley it is adjustable with one hand.

What does pants mean as you have used it in your question? I've looked it up and the closest I could find to match in your question is "to long eagerly".

Anyway, I use a wire core with aluminum snaps on the ends. It was shipped with a prussic loop but I find that is next to impossible to adjust after it gets a little pine pitch on it. I'm looking at a different adjustment now, maybe a short length of 1/2" with a loop on one for a biner and tie to the lanyard with a blakes.

Pants means crap or rubbish its a brit thing. I'd like wire core except its a bit expensive over here. We can get away with double locking snaps for secodary achors here. Although i like triple locking, which limits me to karbiners rather than snaps.

Thanks for the knowledge. Can't wait to use that one.

Next argument with the wife I will be using it.

IE. Honey, that's a load of pants :p
