I recently purchased a new one and was just looking for input from other users in our industry.

I figure was a good investment for when clients need additional info on the spot of things i dont readily know. Also i can now show them pictures of my work ahead of time hoping to improve my closing percentage. Not to mention the possibility of being able to create my client list on the spot with out having to do double input.

Any advice or suggestions that any one maybe able to add is appreciated.

As far as pictures of your work...I think a well made 3 ring binder will be better recieved. That is the FASTEST way to flip through the info.

I have a laptop, but I don't use it for business..I'm kind of old fashioned in that area..I still carry around a little black book, and I have a few pics here and there that I can show customers

I use my laptop to print proposals on the spot, I take pictures of trees and then crop out the limbs to be pruned so the client can see what the tree will look like, I use it to show examples of plants while in flower or fall color. It is a great tool that is very well received by clients of all ages. I also use it for e-mail, and visiting this site. At college career days I use the power point program to display pics of our operation.

Yea i use my laptop for quotes and invoices, you can get portable printers to go with your laptop also. Excellent way to show clients pictures or quickly access the Internet for anything if you have wireless...

It may depend on how big of an image library that somebody has.

I have a laptop, and use it to show a couple of videos, but not really a big need.

But it may help a climber.

Most of my customers have internet, so I can use their computers to show them images on the web of stuff we talk about.

Usually, keeping about 20 photos of my best landscape, pond and pruning work, does the job.

I can see where someone who does estimating could put it to good use.

All ready had contributed....was able to show a few pics if canaries i did and sold that without hesitation...searched for some info a customer needed on a entirely different project, and was able to pull up pics of some drainage i did to pinpoint location to add more and also revisit what i have learned since then and remedy the issue..

So to add to my own thread it has already started returning me profits.:blob2:

laptops

just make sure you have any pRonogrophies closed out when you go to make an appointment in your outlook, especially if the customer is standing by the door of your truck.... ughhh..

Computers are cool

I dig the instantaneous( or nearly) availability of a world of information and technology. Thats why I'm here.....

I love my laptop. Its great for everything mentioned already. If you've got a laptop get the GPS locator for it (microsoft streets and trips with gps locator). You can get it for $50 and have guided directions when driving to estimates and jobs with no monthly fee.

Also here in my county you can lookup property lines and such on the internet.
