Hello all! I'm new to the world of saws having just purchased a "baby" Stihl (MS 180 CBE). I have what will seem like a stupid question to the experienced users on this forum, but I'm anxious to know. When my saw sits for several days, the case is covered in bar oil. Is this normal and is this something I have to look forward to every time I use it? Silly question I know, but it's really been bugging me. So far I love the "baby" Stihl and one of these days hopefully, I'll attain the experience level of most of the users of this forum! Gotta start out small and work my way up. Thanks guys and gals for your time and consideration!! Great forum!!

That helped a little Ron, but yes, it is comon for saws to leak bar oil just sitting. My 350 has just a drop or two, my 390 a little more, my 192 hardly anything and my 262 bleeds like a stuck pig, go figure?

You may need to loosen the oil reservoir cap after use to relieve pressure, then tighten it back down. Otherwise, if you shut it down it may continue to push some oil out that is still under pressure - even heat (storing in a barn/shed) can push oil out that is already inline.

I don't think the 180 has an adjustable oiler like the 045/056 in the linked thread, BICBW.

Wagon beat me to the punch. The oil tank vent only lets air in not out. If it builds pressure in the tank it will continue to push oil out the oiler.
