Hi everyone. Ive been lurking on the sight for many months and finally registered. Thanks for help I've already received in the archives.
I recently bought a Mac 1-53 off ebay. It started and ran rough so I disassembled it, cleaned, reset points and rebuilt the carb. I put a nice coat of Mac yellow on it and now it runs great. My problem is the split gas tank. When I reassembled I cut new gaskets and used a Permatex hi tack gasket sealer that claimed to be gas resistant. The sealer is red and now the gas is seeping out and bubbling up under the paint. When I did a search I got some mixed answers. Some advise a dry gasket, others advise special loctite.
Does anyone have a good method for sealing these tanks?
