i have been doing this for just a little while ,i saw a thread about this and cant find it so im wondering if it would add un wanted stress ,i use a PEAR shape carribeaner ,usually just finish the lifeline off with a CINCH know with the gate to the left but put the 'tail on first

i dont like alot of clutter like a SNAP and a beaner ,or TWO beaners ,they seem to get REALLy kinked ....

anyway whats the verdict?

But doesn't that make it hard to go around branches? Do you have a pulley on there also for advancing your split-tail knot? I am trying to picture that set-up in my mind. If I am seeing it correctly, aside from any safety issues, it seems like a unnecessarily hindering way to do it. A spit-tail is suppose to be a improvident over just using the tail of the knot to secure you to your climbing line. Using the same tie off on a split-tail defeats any advantages of using a split-tail if I'm following you correctly. Maybe its time to update your climbing system. Lot of cool ways you can set-up a efficient system tailored to suit your style. Research and experiment, the reason there are advances is to make climbing more efficient, faster, less work. You may be missing out, and working harder then you have to. Just something to think about. Beastmaster

If I may add, you also run the danger of side loading the biner which is dangerous.

ya the ability to advance or move your line to a different crotch seems like it would be really time consuming like just using your rope and tying a blakes hitch in it with no split tail.

i thought the split tail system was mainly used to stop wear on the rope .....like i said i have been doing this just for a little while ....ive done the whole distel ,vt,xt etc etc ....i just didnt see any advantages over using a blakes fixed to your liking

i just really DISLIKE whole bunch of connects ,things clanging around on my belt .....

you do realize i am not talking about E2E here ,i have a piece of BLAZE double "fished" ....the lifline cinch hitched on the left ,blaze on right

for removals i like this best ,yea i can use a mpulley if i want just fine

Until I switched to a hitchclimber/VT combo I only had one biner for blakes split tail and lifeline end.
Just make sure the lifeline knot is closest to the gate and you're good to go...no problem advancing at all.

But I would now never go back for my main ascent system hitchclimber ROCKS!
